A topographic survey measures and maps the contours and features of any piece of land. With the use of specialized equipment, such as total stations and GPS, data on elevation, slope, and other features of the land will be compiled. This information is then used to create a detailed map of the area, which can be used for different purposes such as engineering, planning, and construction.
Generally, a topographic survey is tied to a local vertical and horizontal datum. In order to accomplish this task; it is required elevation difference leveling and/or GPS. At Orthotek, we have set forth strict guidelines for these procedures as they are the most important part of a topographic survey project.
